Summertime means ESPY award season, and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has two nominations this year.
The annual ceremony, known as the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, honors athletes across professional and collegiate sports and the pivotal moments from the year. This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled to air on July 11.
Ohtani is nominated for Best MLB Player, alongside Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr., Rangers shortstop Corey Seager, and Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole. Coincidentally, all four players have faced significant injuries that have affected their season. However, all of them have made an impact on their sport and the fans.
