In his record-breaking eighth pitching appearance of the season — the most by a position player in MLB history — Dodgers pitcher infielder Hanser Alberto did something special.
After getting Padres’ First Baseman Josh Bell into a 1-2 count, Alberto brought the heat. He painted a 68 MPH fastball on the outside corner, ringing up Bell for the first strikeout of his young pitching career.
With that, the Dodgers bench went absolutely nuts celebrating the moment. Brusdar Graterol and Yency Almonte had smiles going from ear to ear as they demanded the baseball back from the field as a keepsake for their relief ace.
