LOS ANGELES -- An off-season expected to bring significant change to the Dodgers began with an unexpected departure.
Vice president of medical services and head trainer Stan Conte resigned his position. Conte, 60, had been with the Dodgers since October 2006 after spending 15 seasons with the San Francisco Giants, seven as head athletic trainer and physical therapist.
"I want to thank the Dodger organization and specifically each and every one of the dedicated medical staff for their support these last nine seasons in Los Angeles," Conte said in a statement announcing his departure. "My resignation will allow me to focus on my research in baseball injury analytics as I remain committed to determining the causes and effects of various baseball injuries.
