SAN FRANCISCO – Anyone who followed the San Francisco Giants’ McGyver-esque run to the World Series title last fall is familiar with their ability to piece together offense out of discarded household items.
They beat the Dodgers, 3-2, Wednesday night by scratching out the winning run in a ninth inning that featured a five-man infield, Yasiel Puig at third base for the second time this season, a pitch that hit the batter and took out a catcher and – most controversially – a body block by their third-base coach.
