Not long after he was acquired from the Padres in the trade that sent Matt Kemp to San Diego and was subsequently resigned, avoiding arbitration, the Dodgers have announced that they have traded Joe Wieland to the Mariners for infielder Erick Mejia.
Wieland, 26, pitched in two games for the Dodgers last season, finishing with a 0-1 record and a 8.31 ERA. Wieland did have some success in the minors, however, with a 10-5 record and a 4.59 ERA in 22 starts.
At 5'11" and 155 pounds, Mejia appears to be primarily a shortstop with some speed and little to no power.
