The Dodgers added five players to the roster at the trade deadline, including St. Louis Cardinals utility player Tommy Edman.
Los Angeles participated in a three-team trade deal involving the White Sox and Cardinals. Through this trade, the Dodgers acquired Edman and right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech on Monday.
Edman has spent his entire five-season MLB career in St. Louis. The move to Los Angeles surprised Edman. The Michigan native has been on a rehab assignment with the Springfield Cardinals since July 9 as he recovers from wrist surgery. Right wrist inflammation placed Edman on the 10-day injured list on July 7, 2023.
