After dramatically sweeping the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly handing the ball off to a starting pitcher making his major league debut to open the rivalry series against the San Francisco Giants.
Manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Saturday that River Ryan is “a possibility” to start on Monday, according to a social media post from The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya.
“He’s in Arizona right now, so he’s looming,” Roberts added. “It potentially could be Monday. We’ll see.”
Ryan’s rise to the big leagues comes within two years of his full-time conversion to pitching.
