Last week, a wildfire broke out on the island of Maui in Hawaii that destroyed the island’s main tourist hub. This week, the Dodgers, with the help of other Los Angeles area sports teams, are helping a community heal by making a charitable donation.
With the help of the other 11 LA-based sports team, the Dodgers have donated $450,000 to the Red Cross to help the fire relief efforts.
Since the fire started in early August, 106 lives have been lost. The majority of people who died were Hawaii locals who either couldn’t escape the fire or died while in the ocean while trying to flee the blaze.
