LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers on Thursday signed veteran pitcher Trevor Cahill to a minor league contract, and plan to hopefully use him eventually as starting pitching depth in Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Cahill, 27, was 0-3 with a 7.52 ERA in 15 appearances for the Braves this season, including three starts, with 14 strikeouts and 11 walks in 26u2153 innings. The right-hander was designated for assignment by Atlanta on June 11, and released eight days later.
Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi estimated that Cahill might need a couple of weeks to build back up to a starter's workload.
