LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have signed journeyman first baseman and outfielder Mike Carp to a minor league contract, and plan to start him at Triple-A Oklahoma City this week.
Carp, who turns 29 on June 30, has hit .254/.330/.414 with 27 home runs in 318 career games over six seasons with the Mariners, Red Sox and Rangers. He hit just .175/.289/.230 with no home runs in 59 games in 2014 between the Red Sox and Rangers.
The left-handed-hitting Carp graduated from nearby Lakewood High School, roughly 24 miles from Dodger Stadium.
