LOS ANGELES -- Having Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke pitch back-to-back in their rotation has been a big plus for the Dodgers during their three seasons together.
But the uncertainty in the rest of their starting rotation has prompted them to split up their two aces for the second half.
The Dodgers announced their pitching probables for the weekend series in Washington. Kershaw (who pitched one inning in Tuesday's All-Star Game) will start Friday's second-half opener. Mike Bolsinger will go Saturday with Zack Greinke (who started and pitched two innings in the All-Star Game) starting Sunday.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly had said before the All-Star break that the plan was to separate Kershaw and Greinke in the rotation as a way to spread out the bullpen-taxing starts of their fourth and fifth starters.
