LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers on Thursday sent minor league outfielder Joey Curletta to the Phillies as the player to be named later to complete their Aug. 25 catcher swap of A.J. Ellis for Carlos Ruiz.
Curletta hit .251/.323/.463 with 17 home runs, 17 doubles and five triples in 106 games between Class-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa in 2016. He was promoted to the Drillers on July 28, and hit .206/.280/.371 with four home runs and four doubles in 29 games down the stretch in Double-A.
Curletta in 206 played 54 games in right field and 29 in left field.
