LOS ANGELES -- Marty Lamb was the scout who drafted and signed Chad Billingsley, and one successful first-rounder in a scout's career is considered a crowning achievement.
But Lamb -- who also drafted A.J. Ellis, Bryan Morris and Cory Wade -- might have outdone himself this week, as he is the listed scout for three of the first five players the Dodgers drafted.
Two -- first-round right-hander Walker Buehler and third-round left-hander Philip Pfeifer -- came from the same Vanderbilt University pitching staff. Lamb also recommended the Dodgers take University of Louisville right-hander Kyle Funkhouser, the compensation-round pick the Dodgers received for Boston's signing of Hanley Ramirez.
