The Los Angeles Dodgers made a flurry of roster moves before Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which included placing veteran southpaw Cole Hamels on the 60-day injured list.
The move ends Hamels’ season before it even began as he has yet to throw a pitch for the Dodgers after being signed for $1 million two weeks ago. Hamels was working to build up his arm strength with the expectation he would join the roster by Sept. 2.
The four-time All-Star was scheduled to throw a two-inning simulated game on Aug. 7, but it was cut short after just one frame and a few additional pitches.
