LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers are close to signing Cuban pitcher Yaisel Sierra to a long-term $30 million deal, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.
The club, however, has not confirmed the report, and a source told MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez that a deal with the Dodgers is not finalized and that the player is actively negotiating with at least one other team.
Because of his age and experience, the right-handed Sierra, 24, is not subject to MLB's international signing guidelines and the financial restrictions imposed on clubs like the Dodgers who have spent lavishly on international players in the past year.
