The Dodgers were one of the few things to go right for the city of Los Angeles in 2020. Between the death of Kobe Bryant and the pandemic as a whole, Southern California had little to be happy about for most of the year.
The Dodgers changed that with one quick trip to the postseason in Texas. Los Angeles brought home their first World Series title in 32 years, taking down the Tampa Bay Rays in 6 games. That was after a 7-game series against the Braves in which they fell behind 3 games to 1.
Because of that success, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce awarded the Dodgers the Beacon of Light award for 2020.
