LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers recalled Ian Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City before Tuesday's game with the Phillies, giving the bullpen a fresh arm after using six relievers to record 17 outs in Monday's opener.
Eric Surkamp, Monday's starter long reliever, was optioned back to Oklahoma City.
Thomas was scheduled to start for Oklahoma City on Tuesday but was scratched. OKC was ultimately rained out. The left-hander last pitched on Thursday. Thomas has 25 strikeouts and 10 walks in 26u2154 innings with Oklahoma City this season, but has also allowed 23 runs on 38 hits, including five home runs, for a 7.
