Dodgers rally to beat Cubs for their fifth win in a row

LOS ANGELES – Maybe Clayton Kershaw should buy an ill-fitting plaid jacket, start living in a van down by the river and find work as a motivational speaker.

Rookie Jose Peraza’s RBI double and Andre Ethier’s two-run single fueled a four-run seventh inning as the Dodgers rallied to beat the Chicago Cubs, 5-2, Saturday night for their fifth consecutive win.

The winning streak has followed a season-high five-game losing streak that prompted Kershaw to chide his team for failing to play with a “sense of urgency.”

Whether Kershaw’s comments actually knocked some of that sense into his teammates or were mostly just well-timed (coming before a three-game series against the lowly and fading Cincinnati Reds and a welcome homestand), the Dodgers haven’t lost since.
