Dodgers pursue Reds closer Aroldis Chapman, but report of gun incident could put deal on hold

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As the Dodgers appeared set to acquire Aroldis Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds, reports surfaced alleging Chapman had been involved in a domestic dispute at his Miami home in October during which he fired eight gunshots.

That trade appears to be on hold as a result of the reported incident and could remain that way until Major League Baseball completes an investigation of the incident.

The Cincinnati Enquirer quoted Reds GM Walt Jocketty as saying Monday night the team had notified multiple clubs that “we’d step back a couple of weeks or whatever it takes,” indicating any trade would be in limbo until an MLB investigation is completed.
