The Dodgers have always been a pitching factory. Throughout the storied history of the franchise, it’s the pitchers who stand out. There are the Hall of Famers like Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Don Sutton, and Clayton Kershaw, but there are also great pitchers like Don Newcombe, Johnny Podres, Carl Erskine, Tommy John, Burt Hooton, Jerry Reuss, Orel Hershiser, Fernando Valenzuela, Bob Welch, Ramon Martinez, Chan Ho Park, Hideo Nomo, and more.
The factory is still hard at work, with L.A.’s player development system continuing to churn out excellent pitchers. International signee Julio Urias led the National League in ERA in 2022.
