LOS ANGELES – Carl Crawford considers Dee Gordon a friend. The two were teammates with the Dodgers for two seasons and have stayed in contact since then.
So Crawford was “definitely shocked” when he heard the news following Thursday’s game that Gordon had been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for two performance-enhancing substances.
“I texted him last night and talked to him about it and he gave me his side,” Crawford said, keeping the specifics to himself. “It is what it is at this point.”
Gordon issued a statement Friday morning through the players’ union, saying he had not “knowingly” ingested the banned substances but would “accept the consequences.
