The Dodgers met a few familiar enemies in their 5-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, when a disputed call on the field, an injury and Giancarlo Stanton all conspired to end the Dodgers’ five-game winning streak.
The Marlins trailed 4-3 in the seventh inning when Stanton hit a two-run single off former teammate Chris Hatcher to clinch the game.
“Anybody on that club’s going to hit the pitch he hit,” Hatcher said of Stanton, who hit the longest home run of the season the day before. “Middle-middle pitch. He hit it.”
Despite the loss, the Dodgers are 22-11 and comfortably in first place in the National League West.
