ANAHEIM – If the Los Angeles City Council has its way, it will soon be illegal to use smokeless tobacco at Dodger Stadium.
“Good. Ban it. Do me a favor,” said Dodgers reliever J.P. Howell, a dedicated tobacco user since his college days.
Howell admits he doesn’t have the self-discipline to quit the smokeless habit despite prodding from his wife and annual spring lectures about the dangers.
“I know how bad it is for me. I know it,” he said. “But if I go out to throw in the offseason even, I’ll be reaching for a can and (then he pantomines slipping some in his mouth).
