The Rangers announced the majority of their coaching staff Wednesday that will serve under former Dodgers third base coach Chris Woodward. The group included another coach leaving the Dodger organzation, with Luis Ortiz taking the role of hitting coach for Texas.
Ortiz served as one of the assistant hitting coaches — Brant Brown being the other — to Turner Ward in 2018 and was the organizational hitting coordinator for Los Angeles. The 48-year-old is returning to the Rangers where he held various hitting instructor roles in the Texas system from 2008-12.
