The Los Angeles Dodgers are traveling to Japan in less than a week to kick off their 2025 season against the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series. While there was some hope Shohei Ohtani would face live hitters before then, that won’t be the case anymore.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed Thursday that the team is slow-playing Ohtani’s throwing program, and the two-way star currently has no timeline to face live hitters.
Roberts also wasn’t ready to say that Ohtani would return as a pitcher in May, saying the team doesn’t currently know when he would pitch.
