SAN FRANCISCO – Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stopped short of channeling former NFL coach Herm Edwards but his point was the same.
You play to win the game.
Roberts is well aware of the Dodgers’ offensive statistics against left-handed pitchers – they rank last in the majors in nearly every category. But he said he has decided to focus on a different statistic. Going into Friday’s game against Giants ace Madison Bumgarner, the Dodgers had a winning record in games started by opposing left-handers, 22-21, thanks to Thursday’s win over the Padres and lefy Christian Friedrich.
