Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson will be heading to the injured list on Saturday with a strained oblique. Thompson suffered the injury in Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Yankees, as he attempted to check his swing. Thompson ended up staying in the game for the rest of the top half of the inning — even running the bases — but didn’t come out to field in the bottom half of it.
That raised a lot of questions, especially considering the Dodgers had to lose their designated hitter spot by putting J.D. Martinez in the outfield. However, after the game, those questions were answered, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Thompson strained his oblique and will be hitting the injured list.
