Freddie Freeman has officially cemented his historic season in the All-time Dodgers record books as he hit his 50th double of the season on Sunday, breaking his tie with Shawn Green for single-season doubles.
In 2003, Shawn Green set the Los Angeles Dodgers single-season record for doubles with 49 two-baggers in 160 games played. In just 129 games this season, Freeman has beaten the record, currently sitting at 50 doubles on the year as the Dodgers run away with the National League West division title.
The personal connection between the two is helped by Freeman growing up in Southern California.
