Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Rich Hill was placed on the 10-day disabled list nearly three weeks ago due to inflammation in his left middle finger. The stint was expected to be relatively brief, as Hill was dealing with a cracked fingernail and not a blister.
After completing a simulated game, Hill was on track to start against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field during the Dodgers’ road trip. But those plans were altered when his stay on the disabled list was extended because of an infection in the finger.
The 38-year-old’s return was then pushed back to the finale of the Mexico Series on Sunday, but he was once again scratched in favor of Ross Stripling.
