The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly calling up RHP Gus Varland, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
Varland, who began the year with the Milwaukee Brewers as a Rule 5 draft pick, returned to Los Angeles, and pitched well enough in Triple-A to earn himself a call up. He’s replacing RHP Joe Kelly, who was placed on the injured list around game time on Sunday.
Varland pitched well for the first seven appearances of his career in Milwaukee this season, sporting a 2.25 ERA in eight innings. However, he got rocked in his final appearance, and was ultimately returned to the Dodgers.
