Los Angeles Dodgers prospect D.J. Peters was named the 2017 California League MVP as well as Rookie of the Year. Peters was also included on the California League Post-Season All-Stars team.
He’s the first Rancho Cucamonga Quakes player to earn MVP honors since Corey Seager in 2014, and they’re joined by Brandon Wood (2005) as the only Cal League MVPs in Quakes franchise history. Rookie of the Year is presented to a player who’s in his first full season as a professional.
Peters, selected by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2016 Draft, spent last year with Rookie-level Ogden.
