The 2022 MLB Players choice awards were announced on Friday Night. Our very own Freddie Freeman was nominated for National League Outstanding Player of the Year. Sadly, he came up short, coming in second place, while Cardinals third baseman Paul Goldschmidt took home that honor.
Among Goldschmidt and Freeman was Atlanta Braves’ third baseman Austin Riley who came in third place for the award.
Freeman had an All-Star year, earning his sixth selection into the mid-summer classic while slashing .325/.407/.511 with a .918 OPS in his first year in Dodger blue. The 33-year-old had the second-highest batting average in 2022, tied for 12th in RBIs at 100, and had the sixth-highest OPS in the league.
