July was a good month for Mikes.
Dodger prospect Michael Busch and veteran pitcher Mike Montgomery were named Triple-A Pacific Coast League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively.
Busch, a former first-round pick from the University of North Carolina, hit .324/.434/.696 in July, adding an incredible 11 home runs. On the year, Busch’s OPS is 1.032 with 19 homers. At the beginning of the calendar year, Busch was ranked as the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect.
His high batting average and slugging percentage show that the 26-year-old can hit for both contact and power. While Busch struggled in 15 games in MLB, his minor league stats prove that he could be close to making the leap.
