Dodgers News: Luis Avilan Resumes Throwing, But Expected To Remain On Disabled List Past 10 Days

Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever Luis Avilan was placed on the 10-day disabled list last week with left triceps soreness. The roster move came roughly one hour prior to first pitch against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Avilan at the time was the 20th different player the Dodgers have put on the disabled list this season; that number grew to 21 this week when Alex Wood went inactive because of left SC joint inflammation. Los Angeles set a Major League record last season by sending 28 players to the DL.

While a timeline has not been provided for Avilan’s recovery or return, the southpaw expects to be out beyond the minimum 10 days, though he recently began throwing, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.
