For the Los Angeles Dodgers, there’s no such thing as too much depth. With that in mind, the club has reportedly added former Cardinals prospect and one time AL Rookie of the Year hopeful Oscar Mercado to a minor league deal.
Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors was the first to report the move on Twitter on Saturday morning.
Mercado was signed as a second round pick by the Cardinals in the 2013 MLB draft. He eventually made his way to the Cleveland Guardians where he debuted in 2019 and finished eighth in AL ROY honors with a 15 home run season over 115 games.
