The Dodgers are acquiring former LA fan favorite Kiké Hernández from the Boston Red Sox, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reported. The return is not yet announced, but Hernández will be returning to the team he spent six years of his career with.
This doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere, as Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reported that the Dodgers were interested in a reunion. Now, just days later, the deal comes to fruition.
Hernández reportedly told Boston reporters, “I’m going home,” before the deal was announced.
The Dodgers have an obvious need for a right-handed bat who can hit lefties, but it’s unclear how much of an upgrade Hernández is.
