With Major League Baseball attempting to play the 2020 regular season amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, players have been given the option to opt out if they are uncomfortable.
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Mike Leake exercised that right, so too did Washington Nationals teammates Joe Ross and Ryan Zimmerman, Colorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond and free agent Tyson Ross.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said during the club’s first workout of Spring Training 2.0 that conversations remain ongoing with players. The Dodgers have made it clear they will support any player who decides to opt out, and restated their support for David Price in the wake of his decision to not play in 2020.
