Initially the Dodgers had just four All-Stars set to take the field for the Midsummer Classic this coming Tuesday at Chavez Ravine. Outfielder Mookie Betts and shortstop Trea Turner earned starting spots on the NL squad from the fan vote. Standout pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin were selected to the pitching staff.
Earlier this week, fellow LA starter Tyler Anderson was added to the NL roster as an injury replacement for Giants pitcher Carlos Rodón.
On Sunday afternoon, the red-hot hitting Freddie Freeman was added to the All-Star Game.
His recent performance certainly didn’t help his chances.
