Dodgers fans might remember the emergence of Jake McGee out of the bullpen in 2020. Once a struggling hurler in Colorado, McGee came over and completely revamped himself. He finished up with 24 appearances in the shortened year and was essential to their World Series Championship run.
McGee used that success and leveraged it into a free agent contract. The Giants stole him away from the Dodgers on a deal that paid a guaranteed $5 million across 2 years. But he will not get the chance to finish out that deal.
The Giants announced today that they had placed McGee on unconditional release waivers.
