That put them in a position where they would eventually need to acquire Max Scherzer, especially after Trevor Bauer was placed on administrative leave.
But D-May has been making his rehab starts at Triple-A, and he might need just 1 more. This week. Dave Roberts said that May would go again with Triple-A before they could reassess where he is at. That could potentially mean the Dodgers get him back in less than 2 full weeks.
