The Los Angeles Dodgers are flush with organizational talent at the catcher position and included in that is Connor Wong, who was named Texas League Player of the Month for August. He joins Omar Estevez (July) as Tulsa Drillers players to earn the honor this season.
Wong began the 2019 campaign with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, where he appeared in 71 games in a second stint with the Quakes before earning a promotion to Double-A in the middle of July. The 23-year-old batted .412/.463/.742 with five doubles, nine home runs and 26 RBI in August.
Wong began to peak at the close of the month, producing six three-hit performances in the final seven games before the calendar turned to September.
