The Dodgers pitching staff is running on fumes. LA will be starting an unproven pitching prospect for the second time in five days. Despite never pitching above Double-A, Michael Grove is set to take the bump to help the depleted starting rotation that’s missing Andrew Heaney and Clayton Kershaw.
Kershaw landed on the 15-day IL on Friday due to right SI joint hip inflammation. Although the lefty sounds confident he’ll be ready to pitch once his stint is over, it’s still cause for concern given his injury history.
Prior to first pitch today, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Clayton Kershaw played catch today, but the injury is still nagging.
