James Outman has been in quite the slump over the last few weeks. No one really wants to talk about it, but the rookie has been struggling.
After the torrid start to his 2023 season that saw him win the National League Rookie of the Month Award in April, he’s struggled in May.
As of Thursday, Outman is sporting a slash line of .179/.273/.328 in May with two home runs, eight RBIs and 27 strikeouts. In April, he had six home runs, 18 RBIs and 33 strikeouts.
These struggles are not out of the ordinary for a young player, but Outman has really been scuffling, especially with the high fastballs.
