The Dodgers will be down a starting pitcher for the rest of the season, Dave Roberts revealed Sunday morning.
Tony Gonsolin was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 19. The 29-year-old had struggled in his start against Miami the night before, giving up 10 runs, eight hits (including five home runs) and four walks.
Gonsolin told the media following the game that he had been pitching through an unspecified elbow injury, and now Roberts reveals that the pitcher might need surgery.
According to Jack Harris of the L.A. Times, Gonsolin got an MRI on his elbow and, while no final decision has been made, it could impact his availability for next year.
