Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Cody Bellinger hit another home run and collected three more RBI in Friday afternoon’s victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
He now has six home runs and 16 RBI on the season, putting him in elite company with Atlanta Braves’ Eddie Mathews (1953) and New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez (2007) as the only players in Major League history to do that in the first eight games of a season, per STATS.
Bellinger additionally holds the Dodgers franchise records for most home runs and RBI in eight games. Bellinger had a similar run of home runs when he was first called up to the big leagues in 2017, hitting an NL rookie- ecord 39 of them that year.
