Yesterday’s All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium delivered on all of the hype leading up to the first Midsummer Classic at Chavez Ravine in 42 years. Denzel Washington and Mookie Betts both spoke to the crowd before the game. Rachel Robinson, Jackie Robinson’s wife, received birthday wishes from the NL and AL All-Stars. Fernando Valenzuela threw out the ceremonial first pitch just before Clayton Kershaw took the mound in the first All-Star Game start of his career.
The wait for Kershaw, was worth it.
Although he gave up a single to Shohei Ohtani, Kershaw picked him off and finished his one inning of work without allowing a run.
