Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw And Brandon McCarthy Placed On Disabled List, Trayce Thompson Optioned; Hyun-Jin Ryu Reinstated, Josh Ravin Recalled, Edward Paredes Called Up

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Clayton Kershaw and Brandon McCarthy on the 10-day disabled list, optioned Trayce Thompson to Triple-A Oklahoma City, and reinstated Hyun-Jin Ryu from the DL, recalled Josh Ravin and selected the contract of Edward Paredes. McCarthy’s DL stint is retroactive to July 21.

He was tentatively scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but was ruled out after throwing a bullpen session on Sunday. McCarthy has been bothered all season by a blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand. Kenta Maeda is slated to face the Twins in McCarthy’s place.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was encouraged by an MRI on Kershaw’s back, which Roberts described as a “much better” prognosis when compared to last year’s back (herniated disc) injury.
