The ailing Dodgers bullpen got a boost on Friday when Blake Treinen, their best reliever in 2021 who has thrown just three big-league innings in 2022, was activated from the 60-day injured list.
To make room on the active and 40-man rosters for Treinen, reliever Jake Reed was designated for assignment.
Treinen’s first season ended with a Dodgers World Series title, but he had some ups and downs personally. Still, the Dodgers bet on his stuff, and that bet paid off in 2021 when he led the bullpen with a 1.99 ERA in 72.1 innings pitched. He came into the 2022 season expecting to be the main setup man for closer Craig Kimbrel, but he was shut down after just three appearances in April with shoulder issues.
