During Tuesday night’s game against the Marlins, a scary moment occurred in the seventh inning when an errant swing almost seriously injured a Dodgers player.
In the midst of his third at-bat of the night, Marlins catcher Nick Fortes struck Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes in the head with his backswing after a swing and a miss.
Barnes was visibly shaken after the impact but was able to stay in the game for the rest of the inning. Barnes was eventually taken out of the game when it was his turn to bat.
After the game, Barnes mentioned that he’s never been a part of a play like that where he suffered an injury with a backswing.
