Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andrew Toles will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. He was removed during the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game, after crashing into the short fence in right field on a failed catch attempt.
It was not the collision that resulted in the injury, but instead Toles landing awkwardly on his right knee. Toles remained down on the ground while being checked on by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and a trainer.
Toles eventually rose to his feet and walked off the field under his own power. An x-ray on Toles’ right knee came back negative, but the Dodgers were concerned he may have sustained an ACL injury, which prompted Wednesday’s MRI exam.
